Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistent, high-quality, targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, facilitating their access to the adapted curriculum and helping them achieve EHCP goals.
- Assist the Class Teacher with preparing teaching materials, ensuring the learning environment remains organized and stimulating, and general classroom support.
- Provide respectful and dignified personal care support as required (e.g., assistance with hygiene, feeding, mobility).
- Implement specified positive behaviour management plans and utilise alternative or augmented communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton) as guided by specialists.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, log behavioural incidents, and communicate any concerns promptly to the appropriate teaching staff.
- Contribute positively to the school ethos and strictly comply with all school policies, particularly those related to child safeguarding.
Candidate Profile
- Significant, proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally obtained within a specialist SEN school or dedicated complex needs setting.
- While a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) is preferred, candidates with extensive and specific practical experience are highly valued.
- Demonstrated capability in supporting pupils with a wide spectrum of complex Special Educational Needs (e.g., PMLD, ASC, SLD).
- Must possess exceptional qualities of resilience, adaptability, and patience, alongside a genuine, deep commitment to supporting students with learning barriers.
- Knowledge of various communication aids and successful application of positive behaviour support strategies.
- Must hold a current Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one immediately.
We Offer
- A competitive and reliable daily rate of £90 - £95.
- The opportunity to work within a highly dedicated, supportive, and specialist staff team in the Bury St Edmunds area.
- Consistent professional development and invaluable experience in a leading specialist educational setting.
- A profoundly rewarding role where you can make a tangible, long-lasting difference to the lives of the students.
- £300 Refer A Friend recruitment bonus.
