The Role: What You'll Be Doing
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of the classroom team, providing tailored support to students and ensuring they have a positive and productive learning experience. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Individualised Support: Working one-to-one or with small groups of students to help them understand concepts, complete tasks, and manage their learning journey.
- Classroom Collaboration: Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery, preparing educational materials, and helping to manage the classroom environment to be inclusive and engaging.
- Emotional & Social Development: Acting as a mentor and guide for students, helping them to develop essential social, emotional, and self-regulation skills.
- Progress Monitoring: Providing valuable feedback to the teacher on student progress, challenges, and successes to inform and adapt support strategies.
The Ideal Candidate: Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have:
- Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one).
- Empathy: The ability to connect with students on their level and remain calm and supportive, especially during challenging moments.
- A Proactive Approach: A "can-do" attitude and the ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and find creative solutions.
- Strong Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents, and to work collaboratively as part of a friendly team.
- Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with children, particularly in a school setting or with SEN, is highly desirable.
