- Effectively implement positive behaviour support plans and specialised communication techniques as directed by the clinical team and school leadership.
- Accurately monitor, meticulously record, and promptly report on student progress, behaviour, and any concerns to the class teacher and relevant safeguarding staff.
- Contribute positively to the school's inclusive ethos, upholding all safeguarding protocols and school policies throughout the full working day.
Requirements
- Significant, verifiable experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting children or young people with complex needs (PMLD, SLD, or ASC).
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, or equivalent) is highly desirable, though extensive, relevant experience is essential.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong, therapeutic relationships with students who have complex learning and physical needs.
- Exceptional physical and emotional resilience, reliability, and genuine compassion for supporting young people with barriers to learning.
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches, sensory diets, and specific communication aids (e.g., switches, communication devices).
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
- Full-time availability to commence the role in January 2026.
