We are delighted to offer a fulfilling opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Cambridge. We are searching for an adaptable and patient individual to work closely with students who have a variety of needs, such as Autism (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties, and SEMH. This is a vital role where you will act as a mentor, advocate, and support system, helping to shape a brighter future for every learner you assist.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide bespoke support to individual students or small clusters, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated with their tasks.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to prepare creative, accessible resources that cater to sensory and kinaesthetic learners.
- Foster an environment of emotional safety, using gentle encouragement and proven de-escalation techniques to manage complex behaviours.
- Contribute to the monitoring of student growth, assisting in the tracking of goals outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Assist students with their daily routines, promoting independence and life skills at every opportunity.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the school's multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for every child.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a care or educational setting supporting individuals with additional needs (e.g., ASD, PMLD, or ADHD).
- A resilient and positive mindset, with the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to effectively connect with students of all abilities.
- A basic grasp of SEN frameworks and an eagerness to learn more about specialist educational strategies.
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualifications are preferred, but we highly value candidates with strong practical experience.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to process a new one).
