A fantastic opportunity has opened for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner SEN School in Cambridge. We are seeking a proactive and empathetic professional to provide high-quality, personalised support to students with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and SEMH. This is a vital role where you will act as a mentor and advocate, helping to shape a brighter future for every pupil you assist.
Key Responsibilities
- Individualised Support: Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions to help students engage with their learning and feel confident in the classroom.
- Inclusive Environment: Collaborate with the teaching team to prepare creative, sensory-friendly resources that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Emotional Growth: Foster a safe and encouraging atmosphere, utilizing positive behavior strategies and de-escalation techniques when required.
- Progress Monitoring: Assist in tracking student development and documenting achievements in line with their individual EHCP objectives.
- Independence & Skills: Promote student autonomy by assisting with daily routines and the development of essential social and life skills.
- Holistic Care: Maintain professional communication with the school's multidisciplinary team to ensure every child receives a cohesive support network.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care or educational setting supporting individuals with additional needs is highly valued.
- A calm, resilient, and flexible mindset, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the school day.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build meaningful rapport with students, staff, and families.
- A basic understanding of SEN frameworks and an eagerness to learn specialized educational interventions.
- Relevant Level 2 or 3 qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning are preferred but not essential for those with significant experience.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).
