An inspiring opportunity has arisen for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated specialist team in Foxton. In this role, you will be the primary support for students with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASC), learning disabilities, and sensory impairments. You will work in close partnership with class teachers to ensure that every lesson is accessible, engaging, and tailored to the unique strengths of each pupil.
Key Responsibilities
- Personalised Engagement: Provide dedicated 1:1 support to help students access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
- Independence Coaching: Assist students with learning difficulties to build self-confidence and develop vital life skills for greater independence.
- Resource Customization: Modify and adapt learning materials-such as using visual timetables or simplified language-to meet individual student needs.
- Target Support: Help students work toward the specific goals and outcomes outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
- Wrap-around Care: Supervise and support students during non-classroom periods, including lunch, breaks, and community-based trips.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Maintain detailed daily records of student progress and work alongside teachers and therapists to provide a holistic support network.
Requirements
- Proven Experience: A background in supporting young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, or complex needs.
- Strong Communication: Excellent literacy and numeracy skills to assist with reading, note-taking, and clarifying curriculum content.
- Empathetic Approach: A patient, calm, and resilient nature, capable of managing challenging situations with a positive attitude.
- Inclusive Values: A deep commitment to promoting equality and championing the rights of all learners.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of educators and specialists.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one).
