Near Burwell
Are you ready to be the steady hand that guides a student through their educational journey in Burwell?
Do you have the compassion to navigate the complexities of neurodiversity and the passion to turn everyday challenges into moments of triumph?
We are seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school community in Burwell. This full-time role is perfect for someone who understands that "standard" teaching doesn't reach every child and is eager to provide the bespoke, one-to-one support that allows students with Autism (ASC) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to thrive.
Your Role: Impact & Responsibilities
As a dedicated support partner in Burwell, you will be the catalyst for student engagement:
- Academic Scaffolding: Work closely with the class teacher to simplify complex instructions and break down lessons into manageable, bite-sized tasks.
- Regulation Support: Identify early signs of sensory overload or emotional distress, using "brain breaks" and calming strategies to help students stay regulated.
- Communication Bridging: Facilitate social interactions and learning using visual aids, Now and Next boards, and simplified language to ensure clarity and reduce anxiety.
- Milestone Monitoring: Keep accurate, empathetic records of student progress toward their EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) goals, ensuring every small win is documented.
- Safe Haven Creation: Help maintain a structured, predictable classroom environment where students feel safe to express themselves and take risks with their learning.
What You'll Bring
- Emotional Resilience: The ability to remain a calm, stabilising force in a fast-paced environment.
- A Learner's Mindset: You are eager to learn about specific conditions and adopt the latest specialist techniques in SEN support.
- Reliability: Students with additional needs thrive on consistency; we need someone who will be a dependable fixture in their school week.
- Relevant Background: Experience in youth work, care, or education is beneficial, but a genuine "child-first" attitude is your most important asset.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain one).
The Randstad Advantage
- Competitive Weekly Pay: £90 - £95 per day through a transparent PAYE system.
- Local Focus: Work in a supportive school right in the heart of Burwell.
- Free Specialist Training: Access courses in De-escalation, Autism Awareness, and Safeguarding via our premium CPD platform.
