Your Role and Responsibilities
This is more than just a support role; it's a chance to truly empower students. You will:
- Support Individual Growth: Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to implement their personalised learning plans, tailoring activities to their specific needs.
- Cultivate a Positive Environment: Use positive reinforcement and proactive strategies to help manage student behaviour, creating a calm and structured classroom where students feel secure.
- Collaborate with the Team: Be a key communicator between students, teachers, and parents. Your insights will be essential in developing and adjusting student support plans.
- Encourage Social Interaction: Facilitate social development by helping students build friendships and practice essential social skills during school activities and breaks.
- Provide Compassionate Care: Offer assistance with personal care and well-being as needed, always upholding the highest standards of dignity and respect.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a candidate with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. The ideal applicant will have:
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Child DBS on the update service
- Empathy: The ability to understand and connect with students, remaining calm and encouraging through challenging moments.
- An Adaptable Approach: The skill to be flexible and resourceful, anticipating needs and finding creative solutions on the spot.
- A Team-Oriented Mindset: A desire to work closely with a friendly and professional team, sharing knowledge and celebrating every achievement together.
- Relevant Experience: Prior experience working with children with SEN in a school or care setting is highly beneficial. A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is a bonus.
