We have a fantastic opening for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Ely. This role is ideal for someone who possesses a calm nature and a genuine desire to provide high-quality assistance to students with diverse requirements, including Autism (ASC) and complex learning difficulties. By joining this specialist team, you will be instrumental in creating a classroom experience that is accessible, safe, and inspiring for every pupil.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide essential one-to-one and group support to help students navigate their daily learning and social interactions.
- Assist class teachers in implementing tailored educational strategies and setting up sensory-friendly resources.
- Use positive reinforcement and a trauma-informed approach to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Help monitor student development by observing and recording progress towards the targets set out in their EHCPs.
- Encourage pupil independence and personal growth by assisting with life skills and classroom participation.
- Work in partnership with therapists and other educators to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student welfare.
Requirements
- Practical experience supporting young people with additional needs (such as ADHD, ASD, or developmental delays).
- A resilient and adaptable personality, capable of staying focused and positive in a specialist school setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with students and staff alike.
- A foundational understanding of SEN best practices and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Relevant Level 2 or 3 qualifications in education or childcare are preferred, though we value life experience and a "can-do" attitude.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one immediately).
