We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our partner Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Haverhill. We are looking for a dedicated and resilient individual to provide essential support to students with a variety of complex needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive. This is your chance to make a real and lasting difference in young people's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Help to create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages independence and a love for learning.
- Support students' physical, emotional, and social development, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.
Requirements
- Experience as a teaching assistant / learning support mentor/ classroom assistant is desirable.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a patient, empathetic approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- An up-to-date Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).
