Northstowe
Are you looking to begin the new academic year by becoming the "quiet hero" in a student's daily life?
Do you have the emotional resilience to stay calm when a student is overwhelmed and the genuine heart to celebrate the "inch-stones" that represent massive personal victories?
We are searching for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a state-of-the-art specialist school in Northstowe for a September start. This is a full-time, long-term position within a modern, inclusive environment designed specifically for students with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing differences. In Northstowe, you won't just be "helping out"-you will be an essential part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to student dignity and independence.
Your Responsibilities
- 1:1 Adaptive Support: Implement personalised learning plans that break down academic goals into manageable, sensory-friendly tasks.
- Communication Support: Facilitate social interaction using Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables, ensuring every student has a functional way to express their needs.
- Sensory Regulation: Monitor environmental triggers and lead "brain breaks" or sensory circuit activities to help students stay regulated and ready to learn.
- EHCP Evidence Gathering: Work with the Class Teacher to observe and record progress toward Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) milestones.
- Dignity-First Personal Care: Provide compassionate assistance with mobility, meal times, and personal hygiene, maintaining the student's comfort and respect at all times.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Resilient Empathy: The ability to provide a "safe harbor" for students during periods of high-pressure or challenging behaviour.
- Proactive Intuition: You can anticipate a student's frustration before it escalates, acting quickly to pivot activities or provide a change of scenery.
- Reliability: Our students thrive on the security of a routine; we need a consistent professional who will be a dependable figure in their school week.
- Transferable Skills: Experience in care, youth work, psychology, or sports coaching is highly valued, but a genuine passion for SEN is essential.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
Why Choose Randstad?
- Competitive PAYE Rates: £90 - £95 per day
- September Security: Secure your role now and enjoy your summer break with the peace of mind that your next career step is ready for you.
