The Role :
We are looking for a highly empathetic, reliable, and dynamic Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join a collaborative team at a respected SEN school serving the Mildenhall area. This assignment begins on a contract basis with an excellent outlook for becoming permanent.

Your primary focus will be providing focused intervention and assistance to individual pupils or small groups. This role requires the practical implementation of strategies detailed in the students' EHCPs, which includes promoting effective communication, managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies, and assisting with any required physical or personal care needs, all of which contribute profoundly to the students' developmental achievements.
Key Responsibilities in Focus
- Provide intensive, individualised support, helping students to fully access their adapted curriculum and reach their specified learning and developmental goals.
- Support the teacher by preparing necessary teaching resources, maintaining an organised and stimulating learning space, and assisting with general class management.
- Offer respectful assistance with students' personal care needs (e.g., feeding, hygiene, mobility) as required, consistently ensuring the maintenance of student dignity.
- Implement structured behaviour modification techniques and use agreed-upon communication aids (e.g., visual schedules, symbols, basic sign language) effectively.
- Keep precise records of student activities, behavioural patterns, and any concerns, communicating key information promptly to the Class Teacher and senior leadership.
- Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding and contributing positively to the overall school ethos and community spirit.
Candidate Essentials
- Demonstrable, recent experience working in a Teaching Assistant or similar support role, ideally within a specialist SEN or mainstream resource base environment.
- A relevant vocational qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA award) is highly advantageous, though substantial, relevant experience will be fully considered.
- Proven ability to successfully support children and young people with a varied profile of special educational needs (e.g., MLD, SLD, SEMH).
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, coupled with patience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to advocating for students with additional needs.
- Familiarity with techniques for promoting positive behaviour and various communication support strategies.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service without delay.
What We Offer You
- A very attractive daily pay rate between £90 and £95, paid reliably on a weekly basis.
- The chance to join a dedicated, friendly, and highly specialist team in a well-supported school setting near Mildenhall.
- Opportunity for substantial, ongoing professional experience and potential for permanent employment.
