We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner SEN school in Newmarket. We're searching for a compassionate and resilient individual to provide essential support to students with a variety of complex needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and achieve their personal best. Your Impact and Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the school community, working alongside the class teacher to provide a nurturing and inclusive educational experience. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Tailored Support: Providing one-on-one and small group assistance to students with a range of needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will help adapt learning materials and use different strategies to ensure every student can access the lesson.
- Classroom Partnership: Collaborating with the class teacher to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons. You will help manage classroom resources and maintain a stimulating environment that encourages independence and a love for learning.
- Student Well-being: Supporting the physical, emotional, and social development of students, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. You will be a trusted adult, helping students build confidence and navigate social interactions.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Working effectively with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to each student's development. You will be a key communicator, sharing insights and working together to achieve the best outcomes for our students.
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN, along with a patient and empathetic approach.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).
