The Position: Dedicated Teaching Assistant in NewmarketWe are actively recruiting for a resilient and motivated SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our partner SEN school near Newmarket.
This is a pivotal role that requires you to deliver personalised academic and emotional support on a one-to-one or small group basis. The students you will be supporting have diverse and complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication challenges, and elements of ASD. Your dedication will be vital in ensuring a secure, productive, and inspiring learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver crucial tailored intervention, helping students remain focused, manage classroom transitions smoothly, and engage meaningfully with their differentiated curriculum.
- Collaborate effectively with the class teacher and external specialists to prepare the learning environment and resources, ensuring they meet the specific sensory and functional needs of the pupils.
- Implement prescribed support plans and therapeutic strategies, assisting with communication aids and methods to help students express themselves and manage anxiety.
- Provide consistent and calm emotional support, employing proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviour and model positive social interactions.
- Accurately track and record student progress, contributing valuable insights to review meetings regarding their academic achievements and overall well-being.
- Provide support with personal care and mobility needs (if required by the specific student group), always maintaining the highest standards of dignity and privacy.
Candidate Profile
- Solid experience supporting children or young adults, particularly those with complex educational and behavioural needs, is non-negotiable.
- A naturally patient, adaptable, and highly resilient temperament, coupled with a genuine passion for working within a specialist educational setting.
- The aptitude to build quick and positive rapport with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Excellent capacity for teamwork, precise observation, and clear, professional communication.
- An Enhanced Child DBS certificate registered on the update service (or the willingness to undergo an immediate application).
