A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Newmarket. We are seeking an empathetic professional to provide high-quality, personalised support to students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex learning difficulties. Key Responsibilities
- Personalised Support: Work on a 1:1 or small group basis to help students engage with classroom activities and overcome barriers to learning.
- Classroom Collaboration: Assist the teacher in adapting materials and setting up sensory equipment to ensure the curriculum is accessible to all.
- Progress Recording: Help monitor student growth by providing feedback on individual targets and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) goals.
- Well-being Advocacy: Create a nurturing environment by using positive reinforcement and supporting the social-emotional needs of the pupils.
- Independence Building: Encourage students to develop confidence and self-reliance in their daily school routines and life skills.
- Communication: Maintain professional relationships with the wider school team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach for every child.
Requirements
- Practical experience (or a very strong desire to work) with children or young people with SEN.
- A calm, flexible, and patient temperament, with the ability to remain positive in a challenging environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with students, staff, and parents.
- A basic understanding of SEN frameworks and a commitment to inclusive education.
- A proactive "can-do" attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one).
