Sawston
Are you someone who believes that every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves a champion in their corner?
Do you have the "quiet confidence" to provide stability in high-pressure moments and the vision to see the incredible potential hidden behind a student's complex needs?
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded SEN School in Sawston. This role is ideal for those seeking a full-time, long-term commitment, with a clear pathway to permanent employment for those who prove themselves indispensable. You will be supporting pupils with various needs, including Autism (ASC), social-emotional barriers, and moderate-to-severe learning difficulties.
Your Daily Impact:
- Bespoke Learning Support: Work closely with students to adapt classroom content into manageable, sensory-friendly tasks that build confidence and competence.
- Communication Advocacy: Support non-verbal and pre-verbal learners using PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables, ensuring they are active participants in their school day.
- Proactive Regulation: Act as a "co-regulator," recognising early signs of student anxiety and utilising sensory breaks or low-arousal strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Progress Tracking: Assist the Class Teacher in monitoring and documenting student progress toward their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) milestones.
- Holistic Wellbeing: Provide essential support with social interaction, meal times, and personal care, always prioritising the student's dignity and independence.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Resilient Empathy: You can stay calm and objective during challenging behaviours, understanding that they are often a student's only way of communicating a need.
- Reliability: Students in Sawston depend on consistency; we need someone who is committed to being a steady, dependable figure in their lives.
- A "Can-Do" Spirit: Whether you are from a care, sports, youth work, or mental health background, your willingness to jump in and learn is what matters most.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one via Randstad).
Why Choose Randstad Sawston?
- Competitive Pay: £90 - £95 per day via our transparent PAYE system.
- The Permanent Path: This role isn't just a "fill-in"-the school is actively looking for long-term staff to join their permanent family.
- Specialist CPD: Access free, certified training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Advanced Safeguarding.
- Personal Support: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant who will guide you from your first interview through to your career milestones.
- Referral Bonus: Earn £300 for every friend or colleague you refer who joins the Randstad team!
