Stowmarket
Are you ready to be the difference-maker in a child's school day?
Do you have the resilience to stay calm when things get tough and the passion to cheer the loudest for a student's personal breakthroughs?
We are looking for a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated specialist school in Stowmarket. This role is designed for someone who doesn't just want to "assist," but wants to empower students with complex needs-including Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)-to reach their full potential.
Your Role & Responsibilities
In this Stowmarket-based setting, your impact goes far beyond basic classroom help:
- Bespoke 1:1 Support: Work closely with a specific student to help them navigate their day, tailoring activities to their unique sensory and cognitive profile.
- Communication Support: Use tools like visual timetables and simplified language to reduce anxiety and make the school day predictable and safe.
- Goal Achievement: Be the driving force behind a student's EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets, helping them master everything from basic literacy to vital social interactions.
- Crisis Prevention: Act as a steady, de-escalating presence, recognizing early signs of distress and implementing positive behavior strategies to maintain a calm environment.
- Small Group Facilitation: Lead small, high-impact sessions that focus on life skills, sensory play, and social communication.
What You Need to Succeed
- A "Can-Do" Attitude: You're proactive, energetic, and ready to jump into any situation with a smile.
- Patience & Empathy: You understand that progress takes time and that building a relationship of trust is the first step to learning.
- Relevant Experience: Whether from a school, a care home, or a personal background in SEN, you have a solid understanding of supporting individuals with additional needs.
- Team Synergy: You enjoy working as part of a tight-knit "classroom family" alongside teachers and therapists.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
The benefits :
- Competitive Weekly Pay: £90 - £95 per day
- Local Consistency: A stable, long-term placement in a supportive Stowmarket school.
- Learning & Development: Free access to our premium training platform, including Team Teach awareness and Autism Level 1.
- Referral Scheme: A £300 bonus for every successful candidate you refer to us.
