The Opportunity
We have an exciting position available for a highly competent Holistic Learning Partner (SEN TA) to become an integral part of a committed team at a highly regarded school in the Sudbury area. The school is known for its nurturing atmosphere and tailored educational provision.
This essential support role involves delivering comprehensive 1:1 and small-group assistance to pupils with a diverse range of complex needs. Your work will focus not just on academics, but crucially on developing students' life skills, communication abilities, and emotional regulation within a safe, consistent, and respectful setting.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide personalised academic support, adapting activities and resources to match the targets outlined in students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Implement supportive strategies for students with ASD, focusing on routine, communication tools (e.g., PECS, visual schedules), and sensory management.
- Assist the Class Teacher in maintaining a positive, structured, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to the learning styles of pupils with MLD/SLD.
- Proactively manage student well-being and behaviour, using positive reinforcement and calm, consistent responses to support emotional regulation.
- Facilitate the development of crucial independence and self-help skills, supporting students during transitions and daily routines.
- Ensure clear, accurate documentation of student progress, milestones, and daily interactions, communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist with personal care needs and mobility support where required, maintaining the highest standards of student dignity.
Essential Profile
- Significant professional experience supporting young people with a range of SEN, including ASD and MLD/SLD, is required.
- Proficiency in, or strong willingness to train in, specialised communication and behaviour support techniques.
- A naturally patient, intuitive, and highly adaptable nature, with a commitment to a holistic approach to education.
- Excellent ability to establish strong, professional, and trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- High levels of reliability, organisation, and adherence to safeguarding protocols.
- Possession of an Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one promptly).
