Thetford
"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
Are you a creative, "outside-the-box" thinker who can adapt to the unique needs of every student? We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEN School in Thetford. This is a Full-Time role for someone who wants to move away from "one-size-fits-all" education and move into a setting where personalized support is the gold standard.
The Role: Your Day-to-Day Impact
This position is centered on providing a bespoke educational experience for students with Autism (ASC) and complex learning barriers.
- Communication Specialist: Utilize visual communication systems like PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton to help non-verbal students express their needs.
- Sensory Integration: Assist students with sensory processing needs by managing their environment and utilizing "sensory breaks" to help them remain regulated and ready to learn.
- Academic Tailoring: Work 1:1 to break down the curriculum into manageable, achievable "chunks," ensuring that learning feels like a success, not a struggle.
- Positive Behavior Support: Act as a calm, de-escalating presence, using restorative practice to help students understand their emotions and develop better coping strategies.
- Life Skills Coaching: Guide pupils through practical tasks that build their confidence for life outside the classroom-from social skills to personal organisation.
Who Are We Looking For?
- The Empathetic Professional: Someone who understands that "behavior is communication" and has the patience to listen to what a student is trying to say.
- The Reliable Anchor: Students in this setting rely on consistency; we need someone committed to being a stable part of their school week.
- The Skill-Seeker: Whether you have years of experience or a background in psychology/care, you must be eager to learn new specialist techniques and interventions.
- The Compliance-Ready: You must hold a Child DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one through Randstad).
Why Choose Randstad Thetford?
- Bespoke Pay: Earn £90 - £95 per day via a transparent PAYE system.
- Specialist Training: Access free, certified training in Autism Awareness, Safeguarding, and Behavior Management.
- Supportive Network: Join a school known for its strong leadership and collaborative team culture.
- Referral Rewards: Know someone else who would be great? Refer them for a £300 bonus.
