The Role: SEND Instructor
We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and experienced SEND Instructor to work directly with students who have a range of complex learning and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This pivotal role involves delivering specialist interventions, leading small group work, and providing in-class support to ensure students overcome barriers to learning and fully access the curriculum. This is an ideal position for a specialist who is passionate about making a tangible, daily difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver targeted, individual, and small-group intervention programmes (e.g., literacy, numeracy, social skills) to students with identified SEND.
- Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and class teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans.
- Provide high-quality in-class support, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet specific student needs.
- Monitor, track, and record student progress against intervention targets, providing regular feedback to the SENDCo and parents.
- Assist in the development and preparation of specialist resources and teaching aids.
- Promote and reinforce high expectations for behaviour and learning within the classroom and school environment.
- Support students during unstructured times (e.g., break and lunch) and assist with personal care where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school safeguarding and data protection policies.
What We're Looking For:
- A relevant qualification and/or significant proven experience working with students with a variety of SEND (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia, SEMH).
- Strong knowledge of strategies and interventions effective for supporting students with SEND in a secondary setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- High levels of patience, resilience, and empathy, coupled with a positive, proactive attitude.
- The ability to work independently, manage a varied workload, and show excellent initiative.
- Proficiency in using IT and specialist resources to enhance learning.
- A firm commitment to promoting inclusion and the well-being of every student.
- A willingness to undertake further training and professional development related to specific learning needs.
