The Role: SEND Learning Support Assistant
As an LSA, you will be a key figure in facilitating inclusive learning. You will work under the direction of the SENCO and class teachers to provide essential, tailored support, primarily to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your efforts will directly help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and participate fully in school life.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and small-group intervention programmes focused on literacy, numeracy, social skills, or emotional regulation, as directed by the teacher.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum across various subjects by clarifying instructions, scribing, or adapting resources under teacher guidance.
- Assist in the effective implementation of behaviour management strategies and promote positive relationships among peers.
- Observe and record student progress, noting successes, challenges, and providing constructive feedback to the teaching staff.
- Help students develop organisational skills and independence in their daily routines and learning tasks.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including annual reviews for students with EHCPs.
- Offer support during non-classroom times, such as breaks, lunchtimes, and during extracurricular activities.
What We're Looking For in You
- Experience of working successfully with children or young people, ideally those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- High levels of literacy and numeracy (equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above).
- An exceptional degree of empathy, resilience, and patience.
- The ability to follow direction meticulously while also demonstrating proactive initiative.
- A clear understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures within a school setting.
- Flexibility and a willingness to support students across different age groups (Primary and Secondary) and subject areas.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to learn new strategies for supporting pupils with complex needs.
