About the Role
This is a fulfilling and impactful role for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA). You will primarily work to support pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual targets as outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or individual support plans. This role involves both one-to-one support and small group work across different age groups, primarily within Key Stage 1 and 2.

What We're Looking For
- Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the daily school life and long-term potential of pupils with SEND?
- Do you possess the patience, resilience, and empathy needed to celebrate small victories and overcome daily challenges?
- Experience of working with children, preferably those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, or SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils and liaise effectively with teachers and parents.
- The ability to follow direction and also to use initiative where appropriate.
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent).
- Training or knowledge related to specific learning needs (e.g., Makaton, PECs, Phonics) is desirable but not essential.
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a strong sense of teamwork.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assisting the class teacher in the adaptation of learning materials to make them accessible and engaging for supported pupils.
- Implementing specific support strategies, programmes, and interventions as directed by the SENDCo and class teacher.
- Observing, recording, and reporting on pupils' progress, behaviour, and development to inform future planning and reviews.
- Encouraging and modelling appropriate social, emotional, and communication skills among pupils.
- Supporting pupils' personal care needs, as required, with dignity and sensitivity.
- Contributing to the preparation and maintenance of a stimulating and organised learning environment.
- Attending relevant training, meetings, and reviews as necessary.
