The Role: SEND Teacher
This vital role involves teaching, planning, and assessing for students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. You will primarily work within the Inclusion Department, delivering tailored interventions, small-group teaching, and in-class support. The focus is on ensuring students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and those on the SEND register access the full curriculum and make accelerated progress.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver highly differentiated and personalized teaching sessions, primarily focused on literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
- Provide targeted in-class support and withdrawal sessions for students with specific learning difficulties (e.g., Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD).
- Conduct precise assessments (both formal and informal) to identify specific learning gaps and inform the creation of effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Write, review, and monitor high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), collaborating with parents, external agencies, and internal staff.
- Collaborate closely with subject teachers to advise on effective differentiation strategies and reasonable adjustments within the mainstream classroom.
- Manage and direct the work of Teaching Assistants (TAs) within your allocated groups/classes to maximise their impact on student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, ensuring accountability and adherence to statutory SEND requirements.
What We're Looking For
We need a proactive, skilled, and empathetic individual ready to make a significant difference.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, along with significant experience teaching students with a range of SEND.
- A specialist qualification in SEND (e.g., a Postgraduate Certificate in SEN/Inclusion or Dyslexia qualification) is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in delivering effective, evidence-based interventions in core subjects (literacy and numeracy).
- Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its practical implementation in a secondary school setting.
- An exceptionally positive and resilient attitude, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient in assessing needs, tracking progress, and writing/reviewing impactful IEPs/EHCPs.
- A collaborative team player who can build strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
