Do you believe that every child, regardless of their barriers, deserves access to a full and inclusive education?
Are you looking for a role where you can focus on the individual needs of a child rather than managing a whole class?
Would you like the freedom to work across different Primary schools in Leeds, gaining experience without the burnout of full-time planning?
If you answered "yes" to these questions, Randstad Education is looking for you. We are currently recruiting compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support children with additional needs within Mainstream Primary Schools across the Leeds area.
As inclusive education becomes a priority, more mainstream schools are seeking dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, and Speech & Language difficulties. This is your chance to facilitate that inclusion.
The Role
Unlike working in a specialist SILC, you will be based in standard Primary classrooms (Reception to Year 6), helping specific children access the mainstream curriculum.
1:1 Support: You will likely be paired with one child (or a small group), acting as their anchor in the classroom.
Differentiation: Breaking down the teacher's lesson into manageable, bite-sized tasks that the child can understand and achieve.
Emotional Regulation: Helping students navigate the social and sensory demands of a busy mainstream classroom (e.g., managing noise levels, transitions, and playground interactions).
Communication: Using visual aids (PECS, Now & Next boards) to help non-verbal or communication-impaired students express themselves.
Why Choose Supply with Randstad?
Work-Life Balance: You are in control. If you need a day off for childcare or study, you simply mark yourself unavailable on our app.
Financial Peace of Mind: We pay weekly via PAYE. We do not force you into umbrella companies, meaning you take home more of your daily rate.
Variety: Experience how different schools in Leeds approach SEN inclusion, a fantastic way to find the "right fit" school before applying for permanent jobs.
Local Work: We work with schools all over the city to keep your travel time down.
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential (this could be in schools, nurseries or care).
Skills: Patience, adaptability, and a calm nature are non-negotiable. Knowledge of Makaton or PECS is a bonus.
Vetting: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one immediately).
References: We need two professional references to cover your last 2 years of employment/study.
