Role: Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant (KS3 & KS4)
Location: Tamworth & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £88.92 - £100 Per Day
Contract: Fixed Term
Help a young person find their voice and their future.
Secondary school can be a daunting place for any teenager, but for a student with SEND, it can feel like an impossible puzzle. We are seeking a resilient, relatable, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 with needs ranging from Autism (ASD) and ADHD to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
Your goal isn't just to help them finish a worksheet; it's to give them the tools to navigate the classroom, build friendships, and gain the independence they need for life after school.
What's in it for you?
- Long-Term Impact: Most secondary SEND roles are for the full academic year, allowing you to see incredible long-term growth in your students.
- Career Progression: Exceptional experience for those looking to move into Social Work, Youth Mentoring, or Specialised Teaching.
- Competitive Weekly Pay: Top daily rates paid every Friday via Randstad.
- Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a dedicated SENCO and supportive departmental teams.
The Ideal "Mentor" for Teens
We want to hear from you if you:
- Are Relatable: You can build quick rapport with teenagers, understanding their interests and speaking their language while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Are Calm Under Pressure: You have the de-escalation skills to handle challenging moments with a steady hand and a positive attitude.
- Are a Subject All-Rounder: You are confident enough in your own literacy and numeracy to support students across various GCSE-level subjects.
- Are Committed: You understand that consistency is key for SEND students and are looking for a stable, long-term position.
Your Core Responsibilities
- 1:1 Mentoring: Support a specific student through their timetable, helping them break down complex instructions into manageable tasks.
- Social Coaching: Help students navigate the social "minefield" of secondary school, from lunchtimes to group projects.
- Exam Support: Act as a reader or scribe for students during assessments to ensure they can show what they know.
- De-escalation: Use your training to spot triggers early and help students manage their emotions in a busy school environment.
