My client is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Assurance) to support the secure delivery of mission-critical rail infrastructure systems. This role suits a hands-on OT cyber security specialist who can lead assurance activities across products and integrated solutions, from bid stage through to commissioning and in-service support.
đ§ Role Overview
You will act as the cyber security assurance lead, providing technical leadership across:
- 𧹠Security architecture
- â ď¸ Threat & risk assessment
- đ Standards & compliance
- 𧪠Security testing & validation
- đ Assurance documentation
You'll work closely with product, delivery, and customer security teams to ensure security is designed in, implemented, and assured throughout the engineering lifecycle.
đ Key Responsibilities
- đ Lead cyber security assurance end-to-end (bid âĄď¸ design âĄď¸ build âĄď¸ test âĄď¸ commission âĄď¸ support)

đ¤ Engage with customer security teams to align on strategy, assurance, and risk appetite
𧹠Define security requirements and design secure architectures (zones & conduits)
â ď¸ Perform threat modelling and risk assessments; define appropriate controls
𧪠Define and oversee security testing, including FAT, SAT, and penetration testing
đ Assess third-party components against security requirements
đ Represent cyber security at project reviews and stage gates
đ Skills & Experience

Essential
- đ Degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering or technical discipline
- đ Proven experience leading cyber security in OT environments
- đ Strong hands-on knowledge of IEC 62443
- đ Working knowledge of CENELEC standards
- đŁď¸ Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
â Desirable
- đ
CISSP, CSSLP, or CESG Certified Professional (CCP)
- đ¨âđŤ Experience mentoring engineers
- đ Background in rail, utilities, industrial automation, or other safety-critical sectors
