We are currently looking for a freelance Senior Planner with experience working on site as an Engineer. This role is working on an ongoing basis working with a tier 1 client of ours. The ideal candidate will have experience planning the work for new stations with experience focused around civil work, track and network rail assets.
This is a long term freelance role based in Oxfordshire and they are looking for candidates who can interview and start on short notice.
This role is inside of IR35 and will be paid via Umbrella.

Roles and responsibilities:
Core Planning & Engineering
Integrated Scheduling: Develop and manage end-to-end P6 programs for track, platform extensions, and bridge structures (over water and road-over-rail).
Technical Validation: Use your Civil Engineering degree to verify construction sequences, ensuring logistics, possessions, and temporary works are technically feasible.
On-Site Progress: Execute 5-day-a-week site presence in Oxford to validate "as-built" progress against the baseline and resolve real-time blockers.
Forecasting & Earned Value (EVM)
Performance Metrics: Implement Earned Value Management to track CPI/SPI and provide objective reporting on project health.
Dynamic Forecasting: Lead the "look-ahead" process, providing accurate Estimate at Completion (EAC) data for critical milestones.
Scenario Modeling: Perform "What-If" analysis for weather delays, access changes, or design variations to protect the completion date.
Reporting & Compliance
Stakeholder Management: Translate complex data into concise weekly/monthly dashboards for the Project Director and Network Rail.
Change Management: Quantify the impact of project variations and build robust delay claims/recovery schedules.
Interface Coordination: Align civil works with rail systems, ensuring structural works over water/rail meet all safety and environmental constraints.
Candidate requirements:
- Knowledge in working on rail station contracts
- Degree: BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering (Essential for technical sequencing).
- Certification: Membership in a professional body (e.g., MICE, APM, or CIOB) is highly desirable.
- Advanced skills on Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Planner
- Ability to communicate the planning strategy for the project to the wider team
