Key Projects
You will be involved in commercially managing significant national infrastructure and flood protection schemes:- South Gare Breakwater Improvements: Located on the River Tees, this is a critical refurbishment and upgrade project for PD Ports to reinforce the breakwater against increasingly severe weather, which caused significant damage during Storm Babet in 2023. The goal is to strengthen South Gare to protect Teesport for another 150 years. The work involves engineering solutions like placing tonnes of high-density rocks around the base to disperse wave energy. Long-term upgrade works are expected to commence no earlier than 2026-27.
- Whitesands Flood Alleviation Scheme: This is a major £68.6 million flood protection and public realm project in Dumfries, Scotland. The scheme aims to deliver a permanent 1-in-75-year flood protection standard for the Whitesands area from the River Nith. The design combines engineered flood defences, such as walls, glass panels, and flood gates, with public realm improvements including new walkways and landscaping.
