Are you an experienced and highly skilled Social Worker ready to take on a leadership role within a dynamic team? Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Social Worker to join our Assessment and Intervention Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes for families in Gateshead.
About the Role:
As a Senior Social Worker within our Assessment and Intervention Team, you will play a pivotal role in undertaking complex assessments, leading interventions, and providing guidance and support to less experienced colleagues. You will manage a caseload of children and families with diverse and often complex needs, ensuring that effective plans are in place to secure their safety and well-being.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex and demanding caseload of children and families, undertaking in-depth assessments, developing, and implementing robust intervention plans.
- Lead on cases requiring statutory intervention, including child protection investigations and court proceedings, preparing high-quality reports and statements.
- Provide professional guidance, support, and mentoring to newly qualified social workers and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Participate in and lead multi-agency meetings, including strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and legal planning meetings, ensuring effective collaboration.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for children at risk of harm, escalating concerns appropriately and decisively.
- Ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive records on all cases using the agreed electronic systems.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of team practices and service delivery.
- Undertake duty tasks as required, responding effectively to new referrals and immediate safeguarding concerns.
- Represent Gateshead Council in various settings, including court, fostering strong professional relationships with partner agencies.
Key Requirements:
- You must be a Qualified Social Worker.
- Social Work England registration is essential.
- An updated Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
