- Conducting risk assessments and safety planning with families.
- Making recommendations for the next steps, including onward referral to long-term teams, or closure where appropriate.
- Working collaboratively with a range of professionals, including police, health, education, and other agencies.
- Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to newly qualified social workers and less experienced team members.
- Attending and contributing to strategy meetings and child protection conferences.
- Maintaining accurate, analytical, and timely electronic case records.
- Working effectively under pressure and managing competing demands.
About You:
We are looking for a highly skilled and resilient Social Worker with:
- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social care, specifically within a duty, assessment, or frontline child protection team.
- A robust understanding of relevant children's social care legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and relevant safeguarding procedures.
- Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, manage risk, and make sound professional judgements in high-pressure situations.
- Experience in supporting or mentoring less experienced social workers.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- The ability to build rapport quickly with children and families.
- A commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use (or ability to travel efficiently across the county).
What We Offer:
- A competitive rate of £32.71 per hour.
- The opportunity to work in a critical frontline service, making a significant impact on children's lives.
- A supportive team environment with regular supervision and peer support.
- Opportunities for professional development and training.
- Access to a range of employee benefits.
