The Role
As a senior social worker in this team, you will manage a varied caseload of complex cases and be a key source of expertise for your colleagues. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Managing a complex caseload of new referrals, statutory assessments, and Section 47 Child Protection Enquiries.
Providing expert consultation and support to other social workers and newly qualified staff, offering guidance on complex cases and decision-making.
Conducting robust risk assessments and making critical, child-focused decisions under pressure, often within tight timescales.
Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including the police, health, and education, to gather information and ensure a coordinated response to safeguarding concerns.
Preparing high-quality, analytical reports for Child Protection Conferences and, where necessary, for court proceedings.
Contributing to the team's duty rota, responding to new cases as they come in and managing competing demands effectively.
Acting as a role model for best practice, ensuring a consistently high standard of social work is delivered.
About You
The council is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with:
A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW) with current registration with Social Work England.
The ability to manage a demanding and fast-paced caseload efficiently.
