The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced and highly skilled social worker with a passion for supporting care leavers? Worcestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our Homelessness Intervention Team. This is a pivotal role where you will use your expertise to help young people navigate the challenges of transitioning from care, with a specific focus on preventing homelessness and securing stable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Social Worker in this specialist team, you will:
Manage a complex and varied caseload of care leavers who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's needs, risks, and strengths, and develop robust Pathway Plans to support their transition into independence.
Provide expert guidance and support to other team members on complex cases, sharing your knowledge of housing legislation and best practice.
Work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals, including housing services, landlords, education providers, and mental health services, to secure stable accommodation and ongoing support for young people.
Advocate for young people's rights and entitlements, ensuring their voices are heard in all decision-making processes.
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records in line with statutory and council requirements.
Participate in regular professional supervision and team meetings, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work (typically 3+ years), with demonstrable experience of working with care leavers or homeless young people.
Expert knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989, the Leaving Care Act 2000, and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Exceptional assessment, analytical, and risk management skills.
The ability to work with and build trusting relationships with vulnerable young people who have experienced trauma.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in report writing for various forums.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the county.
