An exciting and rare opportunity has become available to join us as a Social Worker within the Children's Initial Advice Team (CIAT), our multi-agency "Front Door." This is your chance to play a key part in a dynamic team committed to providing the "right service, first time, with no delay," ensuring children and their families get the support they need, whether through early help or social care intervention.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a non-case-holding role focused on high-stakes decision-making and expert risk assessment.
You will be responsible for risk assessing all incoming contact information, primarily received over the telephone from a wide range of professional and public sources.
You will be expected to make swift, effective decisions on the next steps, applying the principles of the Professor David Thorpe model.
You will act as a pivotal figure, applying your extensive knowledge and experience of risk to provide consistent clarity and direction for all contacts.
Your expertise must span the full spectrum of children's social care, from understanding Early Help provisions through to experience with care proceedings and adoption, enabling you to confidently manage the diverse range of complex contacts we receive.
About You
You are a Registered Social Worker with current SWE registration.
You have significant experience in children's social work.
You possess a demonstrable and deep understanding of risk and protective factors within a safeguarding context.
You are confident, decisive, and possess excellent communication and analytical skills to manage challenging calls and make robust, defensible decisions under pressure.
