Leicestershire Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Social Worker to join our dynamic Children in Need (CIN) team. We are committed to providing high-quality support to children and their families, ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive development.
About the Role:
As a Social Worker in our CIN team, you will manage a varied caseload, undertaking assessments, developing and implementing plans, and working collaboratively with children, families, and a wide range of professionals. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes through direct work and effective partnership working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families' needs, risks, and strengths.
- Develop, implement, and review child in need plans in collaboration with families and other agencies.
- Direct work with children and young people to understand their wishes and feelings.
- Participate in multi-agency meetings, contributing to coordinated approaches for safeguarding and support.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with statutory requirements and local policies.
- Provide clear, evidence-based reports for court proceedings where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and external services to achieve positive outcomes for children.
- Adhere to professional standards, policies, and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding and confidentiality.
What We Are Looking For:
- A qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Proven experience working within a Children in Need (CIN) or similar frontline children's services team.
- Solid understanding of relevant children's legislation, policy, and practice (e.g., Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
- Demonstrable experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments, risk management, and care planning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing a demanding caseload effectively.
- A commitment to child-centred practice and promoting the voice of the child.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
