About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our dynamic Duty and Assessment Team. This is a crucial role within Children's Services, where you'll be at the forefront of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in Shropshire.
As a Social Worker in the Duty and Assessment Team, you'll be responsible for:
Responding to new referrals and undertaking initial assessments of need and risk for children and families.
Conducting timely and high-quality Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.
Working collaboratively with families and other professionals to develop effective plans that safeguard children and promote their well-being.
Preparing clear, concise, and analytical reports for various purposes, including court proceedings.
Participating in duty rotas and responding to urgent situations as required.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records.
Attending and contributing to a range of meetings, including strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and CIN meetings.
What We're Looking For
A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience within a children's social care setting, ideally within a duty and assessment, or similar, team.
A strong understanding of relevant legislation, policy, and practice relating to children's social care (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse caseload.
A commitment to child-centered practice and promoting positive outcomes for children and families.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with other agencies.
A valid UK driving license and access to a car for business use.
