An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a resilient and skilled Social Worker to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) in Nottingham City. This is a crucial out-of-hours service that provides a safety net for vulnerable children and adults, and their families, during evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for urgent referrals and crisis situations, making a significant impact when day services are closed.

Team: Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
Key Focus: Providing an immediate, out-of-hours social work response to urgent safeguarding concerns for both children and adults.
This role requires a practitioner who can make swift, defensible, and proportionate decisions under pressure. You will be responsible for undertaking crisis interventions, safeguarding investigations, and managing urgent situations that cannot wait until the next working day. The work is diverse and challenging, covering a range of issues from child protection to mental health assessments. This is a unique opportunity for an autonomous professional who is committed to a career in emergency social work and thrives on the ability to provide an immediate and effective response to those in need.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responding to urgent referrals and crisis situations concerning children and adults in need of protection or support.
Undertaking Section 47 investigations and other statutory duties as required, in line with legal frameworks and departmental procedures.
Making critical, proportionate, and defensible decisions to ensure the immediate safety and well-being of individuals.
Collaborating effectively with a range of emergency services and multi-agency partners, including the police and health professionals.
Participating in a rota system that includes evening, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.
Maintaining accurate and timely records of all interventions and assessments.
Providing advice, support, and guidance to members of the public and professionals.
Attending court as required for out-of-hours proceedings.
