The Opportunity:
Are you a passionate and skilled Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact within a community-focused setting? Worcestershire County Council is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker to join our Children's Locality Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with children and families, providing essential support and intervention to safeguard their well-being and promote positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Social Worker in our Children's Locality Team, you will:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify needs, strengths, and risks, in line with relevant legislation and guidance.
Develop and implement child-centred care plans, working in partnership with families, children, and a range of multi-agency professionals.
Undertake direct work with children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and considered throughout all processes.
Carry out statutory duties relating to child protection, including undertaking Section 47 enquiries and attending Child Protection Conferences.
Manage a diverse caseload of Children in Need, Child Protection, and occasionally Children in Care cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
Collaborate effectively with schools, health services, police, and other local partners to provide holistic support.
Prepare clear, concise, and evidence-based reports for statutory meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant case records on relevant systems.
Participate in regular supervision and team meetings, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, ideally within a front-line locality or safeguarding team.
Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant children's social care legislation, policies, and statutory guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex situations under pressure.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and engaging effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
A commitment to strengths-based practice and empowering families.
The ability to prioritise and manage a demanding caseload efficiently.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the county.
