Newcastle City Council is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their highly valued Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team.
The MASH is the front door for all safeguarding concerns for children and young people in Newcastle. As a MASH Social Worker, you will be pivotal in triaging referrals, gathering information from various partner agencies (Police, Health, Education), and making crucial, timely decisions about the appropriate level of intervention and risk.
This is a fast-paced, high-support environment where your analytical skills, ability to manage complexity, and commitment to multi-agency working will be tested and rewarded daily.
Key Responsibilities
Triage and Screening: Efficiently screen incoming referrals, gathering sufficient information to determine the level of risk and required response (e.g., No Further Action, Early Help, Section 47 Enquiry).
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with co-located partners, sharing information lawfully and effectively under the direction of the MASH Manager.
Information Analysis: Systematically collate and critically analyse information from all sources to build a comprehensive picture of the child's needs and risks.
Decision Making: Provide expert professional advice and make evidence-based decisions, ensuring compliance with local safeguarding procedures and statutory requirements.
Duty of Care: Prioritise the safety and well-being of all children and young people receiving a service.
What is required
A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Significant post-qualifying experience in Children's Services, preferably within an assessment or duty setting.
Expert knowledge of child development, safeguarding legislation ($Children Act 1989/2004$, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
Outstanding analytical and communication skills-essential for liaising with multiple agencies and writing clear, concise assessments.
If you are a resilient, dedicated, and highly skilled Social Worker passionate about multi-agency safeguarding, we want to hear from you.
