The Role
As a social worker in the Court Team, you will manage a varied caseload of children who are subject to care proceedings. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Managing a caseload of children where the local authority has initiated legal proceedings under the Public Law Outline (PLO).
Completing high-quality, analytical, and evidence-based court reports, including Section 7, Section 37, and Annex B statements.
Developing and presenting robust care plans and permanence plans to the court, ensuring a child's needs for stability are met without delay.
Attending and giving evidence in court, including case management hearings, advocates' meetings, and final hearings.
Working closely with legal teams, barristers, and Cafcass to progress cases through the court system efficiently and effectively.
Liaising with families, foster carers, and other professionals to gather the necessary evidence for court reports and assessments.
Working to strict legal and statutory timescales, ensuring all deadlines are met and court directions are followed.
About You
The council is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with:
A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW) with current registration with Social Work England.
Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social care, with direct experience of court work and care proceedings being essential.
