The Opportunity:
Are you a skilled and passionate Social Worker seeking a rewarding role where you can build lasting relationships with families? Nottingham City Council is looking for a highly motivated Social Worker to join our dedicated Children and Families Locality Team. This is a pivotal role where you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, providing long-term support to children and their families to promote their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Social Worker in our Children and Families Locality Team, you will:
Manage a varied caseload that includes children on Child in Need plans, those subject to Child Protection plans, and Children Looked After.
Conduct comprehensive and analytical assessments of children's needs, risks, and strengths, and develop effective care plans.
Undertake direct work with children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and inform decision-making processes.
Lead and participate in Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Reviews, and other statutory meetings.
Collaborate effectively with a wide range of professionals, including schools, health services, and other community resources, to deliver integrated support.
Prepare clear, concise, and evidence-based reports for statutory meetings and court proceedings when necessary.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records on the electronic case management system.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, with demonstrable skills in managing a diverse caseload covering Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children cases.
Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant children's social care legislation and statutory guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children and the IRO Handbook).
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex situations under pressure.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and engaging effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
The ability to prioritise and manage a demanding caseload efficiently.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the city.
