The Opportunity:
Are you a passionate and skilled Social Worker with a commitment to frontline safeguarding? Worcestershire County Council is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker to join our dedicated Safeguarding Assessment Team. This is a pivotal role where you will be at the front door of our services, making crucial decisions that ensure the immediate safety and well-being of children and young people in our county.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Social Worker in our Safeguarding Assessment Team, you will:
Undertake comprehensive and analytical assessments of referrals involving children and young people at risk of significant harm.
Conduct Section 47 child protection enquiries and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including police and health, to gather information and assess risk.
Make timely, robust, and child-focused decisions regarding the need for statutory intervention, including the recommendation for Child Protection Conferences.
Formulate and implement initial safety plans for children, working in partnership with families and other professionals.
Provide clear and concise verbal and written reports for a variety of forums, including strategy meetings and Initial Child Protection Conferences.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records on the electronic case management system.
Participate in regular supervision and team meetings, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
Proven 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, specifically within a front-line Duty, Assessment, or Safeguarding Team.
Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant children's social care legislation, statutory guidance, and policies (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children).
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex and high-risk situations under pressure.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and engaging effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
The ability to prioritise and manage a demanding caseload efficiently.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the county.
