The Role: SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
We are looking for an experienced, resilient, and dedicated SEN LSA to provide essential support to our secondary school students (Key Stages 3-5) with a variety of identified needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH), and specific learning difficulties. This role requires flexibility and a proactive approach, primarily involving in-class support and the delivery of targeted withdrawal interventions.

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, high-quality support to students with SEN in mainstream classes, helping them understand instructions and complete tasks.
- Lead and facilitate small group or one-to-one withdrawal sessions focused on improving foundational skills (e.g., literacy intervention, study skills, social skills).
- Assist students in developing effective coping strategies for managing emotional regulation and maintaining focus within the classroom setting.
- Collaborate closely with subject teachers to modify resources and ensure lesson differentiation meets the specific requirements of the supported pupils.
- Act as a key worker for assigned pupils, tracking their progress against SEN targets and maintaining meticulous records of support provided.
- Support the integration of students into the broader life of the school, promoting positive peer relationships and inclusion.
- Assist with invigilation and access arrangements during internal and public examinations as directed by the SENCo.
What We Are Seeking
- Proven experience supporting young people (aged 11-18) with SEN in a secondary school environment.
- A thorough understanding of differentiation techniques and common secondary school curriculum challenges.
- The ability to build strong, trusting, and professional relationships with teenagers who may face complex barriers to learning.
- Excellent behaviour management skills, with a calm, consistent, and restorative approach.
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken English, necessary for professional documentation and communication.
- Willingness to undertake training relevant to specific student needs (e.g., SEMH, specific disabilities).
- A robust understanding of confidentiality and GDPR as it applies to sensitive student data.
