The Vital Role: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
We are recruiting a dedicated and adaptable SEN LSA to support their students, primarily on a one-to-one basis or in targeted small groups. You will play a crucial, front-line role in implementing personalised learning and care plans for pupils with varying levels of need, ensuring they can access their education, develop crucial life skills, and build self-esteem.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement specific learning strategies and therapeutic programmes (e.g., social stories, visual timetables, sensory breaks) as set out in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Provide highly individualised in-class support across different subjects, adapting complex instructions and curriculum materials for comprehension.
- Encourage and model positive social interactions and communication skills among pupils, promoting inclusion within the school community.
- Support the development of student independence by teaching self-management, organisational skills, and self-advocacy.
- Manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and reflective manner, using the school's positive behaviour management strategies.
- Maintain accurate daily records of the pupil's engagement, achievement, well-being, and behaviour, reporting promptly to the class teacher and SENCo.
- Assist with the set-up and preparation of specialised resources and technology tailored to the student's unique learning profile.
What We Are Looking For
- Substantial experience in providing support to children or young people with SEN or complex learning/behavioural needs.
- Outstanding patience, empathy, and a warm, encouraging manner.
- A strong understanding of the principles of child development and different learning difficulties.
- Confidence in using or a willingness to be trained in specialist communication aids (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or IT support.
- The ability to be flexible, resilient, and proactive when faced with demanding situations or changes to routine.
- Good standard of education, with solid literacy and numeracy skills.
- A committed team player who communicates effectively and professionally with all stakeholders (staff, parents, external agencies).
