The Role: SEN Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a proactive, empathetic, and skilled SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide targeted support to pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a crucial role where you'll be instrumental in helping students access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their personal best. You will primarily work with pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis, within the classroom and in dedicated intervention spaces.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific intervention strategies developed by the Class Teacher and SEN Coordinator (SENCo).
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and emotional/social needs.
- Assist the class teacher in differentiating and adapting learning materials to make the curriculum accessible to students with diverse needs.
- Monitor, record, and regularly report on students' progress against their learning targets, noting achievements and challenges.
- Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of pupils, helping them build positive relationships and manage their feelings.
- Help facilitate the use of specialist equipment or assistive technology where necessary.
- Assist with the personal care needs of students, if required, in line with individual care plans.
- Attend relevant training, team meetings, and contribute to annual review meetings.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine and demonstrable passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Prior experience working with children or young people, particularly those with identified SEN, is essential.
- Excellent patience, resilience, and a positive, calm demeanour.
- The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills, ideally demonstrated by qualifications at GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent.
- An understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
- The flexibility and initiative to adapt quickly to changing student needs and classroom situations.
