The Role: Special Educational Needs (SEN) LSA
We are seeking a proactive, kind, and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dedicated team. This pivotal role involves providing targeted, flexible support to young children (aged 4-11) with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs, including communication difficulties, physical impairments, and learning delays. You will work closely with class teachers and the SEN Coordinator to implement support strategies that are both engaging and highly effective.

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for assigned pupils, primarily on a 1:1 basis, during lessons and structured activities to ensure curriculum access.
- Assist in the implementation of therapeutic programmes (e.g., speech and language exercises, sensory diets) as prescribed by external professionals.
- Facilitate the use of communication aids and assistive technology, helping pupils to express themselves and interact with peers and staff.
- Support pupils' transitions throughout the school day (e.g., moving between classrooms, starting and finishing the day) to minimise anxiety.
- Observe and record accurate data on the pupil's progress, engagement, and behaviour, contributing vital information to termly reviews and IEP development.
- Model and promote appropriate social behaviours and play skills, helping the pupil build meaningful friendships and participate in group activities.
- Assist with the preparation and adaptation of differentiated resources, ensuring materials are clear, structured, and stimulating for the supported pupil.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous, relevant experience supporting children within a Primary School or Early Years setting is highly desirable.
- A calm, empathetic nature coupled with demonstrable patience and resilience.
- Good understanding of Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum expectations and how to modify them for diverse learners.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- High standards of both written and verbal communication, capable of building positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A committed understanding of and adherence to child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- The initiative to anticipate student needs and adapt support approaches instantly without constant direction.
