Roles and Responsibilities
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with Teachers and other staff to support students with a range of special educational needs. Your main duties will include:
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and dyslexia.
- Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), adapting learning materials, and creating a positive learning environment.
- Supporting students' social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and positive relationships.
- Assisting with classroom management and preparing educational resources.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a patient, resilient, and highly motivated individual with a genuine passion for working with children. The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
- A strong understanding of different learning difficulties and effective support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced classroom setting.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential. We value experience and a positive attitude just as much.
