Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Opportunities in Blackburn - Starting September
Are you a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to join our network of primary schools in the Blackburn area, with positions starting from September 2025.
We are looking for individuals who can bring a fresh perspective and a personalized approach to helping children with a wide range of needs. Our schools require staff who are proactive and can adapt to different learning environments and support requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Dedicated 1:1 Support: You will be matched with a specific child to provide one-on-one support, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals. This includes creating and adapting resources, and implementing tailored support plans.
- Small Group Interventions: You may also be tasked with leading small group sessions focused on developing key skills, such as literacy, numeracy, or social skills.
- Collaborative Practice: You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's education and well-being.
- Pastoral Support: A key part of the role is providing emotional and pastoral support, helping to build the child's confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
- Wider School Community: Your contribution will extend beyond the classroom, with opportunities to support during breaks, assemblies, and school trips, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
We are looking for candidates with experience in supporting various SEN needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Difficulties (BESD)
- Cognitive and Global Delay
- Physical and sensory impairments
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or support setting is essential.
- A strong understanding of special educational needs and effective support strategies.
- The ability to manage challenging situations with patience and empathy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive and flexible attitude.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are highly desirable.
