Key Responsibilities
As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:
Adapting and delivering the curriculum to meet the unique needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH challenges.
Providing consistent one-on-one emotional support to pupils, helping them develop self-regulation and social skills.
Implementing positive strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a productive learning environment.
Meticulously logging incidents and providing detailed feedback on pupil progress to the wider support team.
Working hand-in-hand with teaching assistants, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive network.
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Demonstrable experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate, patient, and highly adaptable approach.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
