I am currently recruiting for a versatile Multi-Skilled Mechanical & Electrical Engineer on behalf of my client. The core objective of this role is to conduct both routine planned maintenance and reactive interventions across a wide array of Building Services Engineering plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all routine PPM is diligently performed on mechanical and electrical plant, following site-specific task schedules and the CAFM system.
- Complete reactive maintenance tasks throughout the sites and proactively identify areas where operational efficiencies can be enhanced.
- Promptly rectify plant faults and defects to guarantee continuous serviceable order.
- Manage spares availability for maintenance and reactive works, providing necessary parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial actions.
- Ensure all pertinent paperwork/CAFM updates for PPM, reactive, and breakdown works are accurately completed and submitted without delay to the contract administrator.
- Strictly adhere to Method Statements and Risk Assessments, which must always be prepared and used to maintain safe working practices.
- Ensure plant logs are meticulously kept up-to-date and all designated plant rooms remain clean and tidy.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working patterns, including providing holiday and sickness cover at short notice.
- Be prepared for lone working, pending satisfactory training completion.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are acted upon and finalised appropriately.
- Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements.
- Provide essential engineering support during emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.
Role Scope & Key Attributes:
- Primarily undertake Mechanical Engineering tasks.
- Contribute to adherence to company quality standards (specification compliance, materials/workmanship).
- Maintain and care for all company tools; wear appropriate uniform/PPE; ensure work areas are left clean.
- Ensure accurate/timely completion of all site-based documentation.
- Execute works to agreed quality standards as directed by the Account team.
- Oversee subcontractors in accordance with H&S legislation.
- In general, the role involves fault finding, minor repairs, installations, and general maintenance services.
- While mechanically biased, be prepared to participate in the full spectrum of FM maintenance activities.
- Assist in preparing company reports and supporting service level agreements.
- Work strictly within company safety policy, advising line manager of all potential safety risks.
- Possess excellent communication skills at all levels, be comfortable working unsupervised, and be competent in statutory paperwork.
- Comply with all SHEQ procedures, including reporting risks/incidents, site-specific risk assessments, using safety equipment/uniform, ensuring public protection, and taking responsibility for personal and collective safety.
Qualifications & Experience Sought by My Client:
- Desired: Approximately 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.
- City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to perform under pressure while remaining calm, clear-thinking, and delivering services within given timeframes.
- High level of initiative, coupled with a drive for continuous operational improvement.
- Advanced communication skills with a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and expectations.
- Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions.
- Current and Valid Full & Clean UK driving license.
