RoleRole & Responsibilities
As a Study Skills Tutor, you will be instrumental in fostering the academic growth and independence of autistic university students. You will design personalized learning plans, equip students with essential study strategies, and provide both in-person and online support. You'll be a key part of a supportive and collaborative team dedicated to student success.
Main tasks include
- Develop individualized learning plans tailored to each student's unique needs and learning style.
- Provide academic support and guidance in organization, time management, and research skills.
- Foster student independence by teaching effective learning strategies and self-advocacy skills.
- Address student concerns promptly and professionally, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with university staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Undergraduate degree (minimum Level 6).
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
- Extensive autism training (NAS modules or Optimum Training).
- Proven experience working with autistic students in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology for online teaching and communication.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for supporting neurodiverse learners and promoting their academic success.
